About Us

Leap into Lessons is a summer swim lesson program taking place in the privacy of our backyard pool.

We strive towards making children confident, comfortable and successful in the water.  Unlike other lessons, we challenge your children to learn the necessary skills and foundations to be able to swim.  We offer one-on-one instruction ensuring to use some play based games as appropriate to assist with teaching some of the fundamental skills.  Our lessons will show results and your child will be leaping forward to achieving many new and improved swimming skills.

I have been bringing my two children to Leap into Lessons for two years now and the improvement and confidence they have brought out in my children is amazing! They hadn’t been in lessons the first year and how much they changed with their swimming abilities and no longer fearing the water.they also keep them on task and keep pushing them even when my children would resist and need to be pushed out of there comfort zones! This summer was to keep up there skills from swimming and I am so glad it has stayed fresh in their minds and gotten better! Emily and Abby are amazing and their coaches! I would 100% recommend! Thanks again until next year!

We have had a great experience with our children learning to swim. We have been sending our 5 and 3 year olds twice weekly all summer and our 5 year old is almost completely independent in the water and our 3 year old is very comfortable- previously terrified of the water. We are very happy with the progress so far!

Can’t say enough wonderful things about these private swim lessons! Great value, expertise and progression of skills! My daughter learned to put her face in the water, rhythmic breathing during front crawls, various kicks and how to blow out with her mouth and nose underwater. She is now a strong swimmer who is determined to continue developing her skills! I highly recommend these lessons!

I cannot recommend the four girls enough. My daughter was apprehensive to get her face wet and lacked confidence in the water. The girls were patient and kind but pushed her just enough to try. By the end of the summer she was swimming the whole length of the pool and jumping into the deep end with no help. After every lesson my daughter would ask when she could go again. Looking forward to next summer!

This has been our third summer with Leap into Lessons and it's the best thing we do each summer. Emily and Abby are amazing teachers, kind, encouraging, and disciplined. Our youngest has sensory issues and they have been so accommodating and he adores swimming. They're so professional and amazing to work with. I've recommended them to everyone I know with kids, and so many of my friends have taken their children and have loved it.

Worst experience I had to cancel my kids appointment as they were on antibiotics and Emily cancelled all the scheduled appointments for the next whole season and didn’t even reply to my email.

I won’t recommend this to anybody

We started swimming lessons here over a year ago due to it being outside and in a more private setting due to covid as something the kids could do during the summer. We were pleasantly surprised how great Emily and Abby were at teaching the kids the basics such as bobs, blowing bubbles, floats etc. Our kids had sooo much fun that they begged to go back almost everyday and we ended up booking extra lessons and they cried when the season was over! The ladies know how to make it fun, keep them engaged - yet push them when needed. This year, our kids are working on improving their basic skills as well as adding in more stroke types and our youngest (now 5) has really flourished with the one on one attention. They have chairs and umbrellas beside the pool if you and your kids feel more comfortable being close - or offer you a nice shaded gazebo to sit in. We cannot recommend them enough and hope they continue to offer lessons in the future years!

Emily and Abby (and their friend) are beyond amazing! They are so knowledgeable and kind. Last summer my daughter went from being afraid of the water to being able to swim the length of their pool all on her own. We are back again this summer to help strengthen my children’s skills. We have enjoyed our lessons and have got so much out of them. Can’t recommend them enough!

We did a few lessons with Abby and Emily last summer. Our son went from not wanting to go into the water, to jumping in in just a few lessons. This summer he started swimming on his own based on the skills he learned here. He still plays the skill based games they taught him. They gave him the confidence in the water that he needed.

Emily

Coach

Hello, I’m Emily! I swam competitively for 14 years and hold my National Coaching Certification Program (NCCP) Level 101, currently working toward my Level 201. I’ve spent 4 years coaching and instructing with the Guelph Marlins, supporting swimmers through the lesson program, pre-competitive, and competitive groups. Most recently, I coached a competitive age group in Collingwood, further building my experience in developing young athletes.
This is my fifth summer offering private swim lessons in our backyard pool, and I truly believe in creating a challenging yet supportive program built on progression. The more time a child spends in the water, the more confident and capable they become. I’m passionate about helping swimmers improve their technique, build water safety skills, and reach their full potential—while having a great time doing it!
I also take care of all the behind-the-scenes admin and emails, so if you’re reaching out with questions or booking lessons, you’ll be chatting with me!

Abby

Coach

Hi, I’m Abby! I swam competitively for 11 years with the Guelph Marlin Aquatic Club and held my National Coaching Certification (NCCP 101). I’ve been a part of the Marlins’ lesson program for 3 years and coached their pre-competitive Blue Marlins group, helping young swimmers build a strong foundation in the sport. Most recently, I coached with Brock Niagara Aquatics, working in their Learn to Swim program and gaining even more hands-on experience with beginner swimmers.
This will be my fifth summer offering swim lessons in our backyard pool, and I’m so excited to get back in the water! I believe that having fun and consistent repetition are the keys to learning, and I love watching my swimmers grow more confident with each session.

Mikayla

Coach

Hi, my name is Mikayla, I swam competitively with the Guelph Marlins for 4 years and have been teaching swim lessons for the past 2 years. I now coach seasonally with the Marlins while attending university and continue to love working with kids and helping them grow their skills in the water.
This is my second summer with Leap Into Lessons, and I’m so happy to be back! I focus on keeping lessons fun and engaging, while paying attention to the little details that help swimmers feel confident and successful.

Julia

Coach

Hi! My name is Julia and I’ve loved the water for as long as I can remember. I swam with the Guelph Marlins for 7 years, including 4 years competitively. I’ve been instructing and volunteering with the Marlins and now coach with them as part of their lesson and development programs. I’m also National Coaching trained and currently working toward full certification.
This will be my second summer with Leap Into Lessons, and I’m so excited to be back in the pool! I love creating a positive, encouraging environment where swimmers can build their skills and have fun doing it. See you this summer!

Sanija

Coach

Hi! I’m Sanija, and I’ve been a swim instructor with the Guelph Marlins for the past 5 years, working with swimmers of all ages and skill levels to help build confidence, technique, and a love for the water. I also swam competitively for 6 years, which gave me a strong technical foundation that I bring into every lesson.
While this is my first official summer with Leap Into Lessons, I’ve helped out in the past and I’m really looking forward to being part of the team this season. I’m passionate about creating a positive, supportive environment where swimmers can have fun and improve with each session!

FAQ

Contact us if you have any questions not found below. We'd love to hear your feedback and reviews!
What should I bring to my lesson?
Towel, goggles, wear sunscreen, wear your swimsuit to the pool.
How long should I arrive before my lesson?
Five minutes prior. Please wait outside the pool gate and the instructor will come get you when ready.
Are there bathrooms?
We only supply a bathroom for emergency uses (NOT TO CHANGE.)
Where can parents go during the lessons?
We provide seating right beside the pool, you are more than welcome to sit there, but if your child does get distracted very easily we also have a gazebo where you have a view of the pool but harder for the children to see you. You are also welcome to leave if you wish.
When do I know to move my child for a longer lesson?
We recommend to start with 30 minute lessons unless you are a returning member who had 60 minutes, or we have assessed if your child(ren) can handle a longer lesson.  We find attention spans may vary per child.  Sometimes coming more frequently is best.
How do I pay?
Swim lessons are $22 for a 30 minute lesson per child and $44 for a one hour session per child.  Payments are due the SUNDAY before your lessons that fall from Monday to Sunday of the next week via e-transfer to puslinchswimlessons@gmail.com (password: swimming).
What if there is thunderstorms?
Thunderstorms we only cancel if at our location there is a storm. Sometimes the weather isn’t the same in Guelph as it is in Puslinch. If we know in advance, we will do our best to try to reach out and move a lesson to a different day, if possible. If during a lesson, we hear thunder, we will sit out for 15 minutes, if no more thunder the lesson will proceed. If thunder continues, lessons will be postponed to another day. This means we could run 15 minutes behind in a day. Please be understanding. You will only be charged for the amount of time your child was in the water.
How do you handle cancellations?
Cancellations can be made up to 24 hours through your online account. It is your responsibility to login and cancel. If you are cancelling with less than 24 hour notice, you need to notify us and you will be charged for a missed lesson. Understand, we pay instructors to be there for a time.
How can I view my current bookings?
Click "My Lessons", here you can view your lessons booked and you have the option to cancel a booking if more than 24 hours notice.
